Introduction

Aviation fuel has always been an interesting area of knowledge for me.  Every since I was a kid and found out different grades of aviation gasoline were different colors, I have been intrigued by them.  Now that I am professionally involved with the field, I am trying to collect as much information as I can and share this with anyone who is interested.

You might think this subject only has about a 100 year history, dating to the Wright Brothers, but that would not be correct.  For the first aviation fuel was certainly not jet fuel, and not even gasoline, but was, indeed, straw.  Yes, straw.  For it was straw back in 1783 that was burnt to provide the lifting hot air of the Montgolfier balloon.  So the history of aviation fuels goes back to November 21, 1783 and continues now into the 21st century.

So, please enjoy this site. It will continue to grow as I gather information, and, of course, have lots of that "spare time" needed to build the site.
